You can call me Paula.

Your friendly neighbourhood feminist.

Paula Ethans is a writer, lawyer, and public educator, focused on gender equality and migrant rights. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she is now based in Berlin. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Development and a Juris Doctor with a public law specialization. Paula uses her legal training, access to privilege, and media experience to organize her communities and advocate for the rights of the marginalized.

Paula utilizes various outlets – critical writing, spoken word, workshop facilitation – to analyze law, culture, and politics through a critical anti-oppression feminist lens. Her words have been published in the Ottawa Citizen, Yahoo Finance, Ricochet, Medium-Human Parts, Slice TV, Golden Girl Finance, among others. Paula has competed in and won  the Urban Legends Womxn’s Slam and has performed her spoken word at various events, including the 2019 Women’s March Ottawa. She has led workshops on using social media as a tool for feminist advocacy.

Paula is usually based in Canada (but she makes no promises about that) and is available for assignments. Get in touch with her for media inquiries, writing assignments and workshop facilitations.
